Canelo Alvarez will aim to defend his WBC middleweight title for the first time when he faces off against Amir Khan in Las Vegas on May 7. The fight has been surrounded by a media blitz and some questionable comments from Canelo that may jeopardize a potential support fight with Gennady Golovkin.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Canelo vs Khan should be a highly competitive matchup with legitimate fight of the year potential. With this fight being the biggest since Mayweather vs Pacquiao, in terms of media hype, books have posted a massive list of props rivalry the previous superfight.
Here are few props that could be worth a look along with a full list of prop bets offered at Sportsbook.
UNDER 7.5 Rounds (+135)
Khan has lost three times in his career with two of them coming via KO within the first four rounds. With Khan jumping up so much weight he will certainly be giving up size to Canelo who has reportedly been known to pack on 20 lbs of water weight between weigh-ins and fight time.
Canelo’s power is evident, as he has won 32 of his 46 fights via T/KO, which includes 10 of his past 17 bouts.
Khan is a speed first fighter and can move in a straight line which would result in him looking up at the lights sooner rather than later.
Fight Goes The Distance (+185)
I know this one is in complete contradiction to the above prop, but if you think Khan can defeat Canelo then this is the most likely outcome. Khan is well known to be a fairly weak puncher and wins based on his hand speed and outpointing his opponent. The odds of Khan scoring a T/KO victory prove this, as that result is a rather large +1200.
Though it can be hard to put much stock in the loss – considering it was against Floyd Mayweather – but Canelo’s lone career loss was by decision.
