With the Brooklyn Nets seemingly out of the Dwight Howard race, the Houston Rockets now appear to be the frontrunner to land the Orlando big man. And sportsbooks are wasting little time moving the Rockets' title odds.
Rumors of Howard to the Rockets began surfacing Thursday night, causing the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino SuperBook to slice Houston’s NBA title odds from 75/1 to 50/1.
Bettors can expect those numbers to tighten further if the Magic can work out a deal to ship the best center in the league to Houston.
ESPN reported Friday that the Rockets had reworked their offer for Howard and were willing to take on the long-term contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon as well as send multiple first-round picks to Orlando.
Without Howard, the Rockets were considered big longshots on the same level as the New Orleans Hornets and Minnesota Timberwolves.
