Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas Betting Odds

Retirement didn’t last very long for Manny Pacquiao, as the Filipino icon announced he would be making his return to the boxing ring to challenge WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas on Nov. 6, 2016.

Not surprisingly, Pacquiao opened as a massive favorite for the bout with the only boxer in history to win titles in eight different weight classes being posted at -1000 with Vargas coming back at +550.

Age has obviously taken its toll on Pacquiao, as he can no longer sustain the constant pressure he could in his prime. However, Pac-Man can still flash glimpses of the skills that once made him one of the top boxers on the planet. Pacquiao also has little power in his hands at this point, with the 37-year-old not picking up a KO victory since his bout with Miguel Cotto in 2009.

Vargas will enter the bout with a nearly flawless 27-1 record  - with the lone loss coming to underappreciated Timothy Bradley. Vargas is a great fighter who could stand to show a little more aggression in some of his fights – though he did show that he is able to knock out an opponent in his last bout with Sadam Ali.

Both of these fighters are looking to score points instead of knockouts. Pacquiao still has the skill to defeat most fighters in the world, but the younger Vargas is not a pushover.
