Pavlik Martinez Boxing Odds Preview
On Saturday night a couple of belts are on the line, but can the underdogs take those belts away from the favored champions?
Kelly Pavlik (36-1 with 32 KO’s) vs Gabriel Martinez (44-2-2 with 24 KO’s)
Bovada has Pavlik as the favorite in this bout posted at -175 with Martinez the underdog at +145.
WBO and WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will be putting his belts on the line in a fight against counter punching Sergio Gabriel Martinez. Pavlik is the favorite in the bout, but he cannot underestimate Martinez, who is the current WBC Super Welterweight Champion.

Martinez uses a southpaw stance and has not really lost a fight in more than a decade losing some very questionable decisions in his last couple of bouts.
Pavlik’s only loss came to Bernard Hopkins and since then he has not fought anybody that has legitimate title potential. Pavlik has had problems in his career facing fighters that move around and if Martinez keeps moving he may score an upset.
Martinez comes into this fight in fantastic shape and he also has a big chip on his shoulders, as he was robbed of a couple wins in his last two fights, both of which he should have won. He does not have the size or reach of Pavlik and will have to move around and punch and jab and not stand in the middle of the ring and take Pavlik’s hard punches.
If Pavlik can corner Martinez or get a few solid punches in on him he should win, as he is a more powerful fighter with much better punching power.
Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) vs Edison Miranda (33-4 29 KO’s)
Bovada has Bute as the major favorite in this fight posted at -735 with Miranda as the huge underdog at +445.
In a live HBO fight the heavily favored IBF Super Middleweight Champion Lucian Bute will take on hard punching Columbian Edison Miranda.
Miranda has an exciting style of boxing and he is a hard puncher with either hand. However, his boxing ability is average at best and when he gets in tough fights he tends to get discouraged and loses.
Bute is a southpaw boxer that is undefeated and has some solid wins on his resume. He has never really been in a ring with a fighter that has the punching power of Miranda, but he will try to stay away from the big bombs he throws at him.
Miranda will have to go for the knockout, as he simply does not have the boxing ability to win a war of attrition. If Bute can duck and weave and dance around the ring and pick his spots staying away from taking a big hit he should easily win this bout.
Bute is a smarter boxer and he can change his game as the fight dictates. He will use his speed and take his points when he can get them and will likely play it safe and try winning on points.
