Argonauts running back Chad Kackert was named the Grey Cup's most outstanding player after rushing for 133 yards on 20 carries in the win, while Toronto quarterback Ricky Ray threw for 231 yards with a pair of touchdown passes in the contest.

Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was held to just 57 yards rushing on his 15 carries in the losing cause, and quarterback Kevin Glenn was good on 14 of 27 pass attempts for 222 yards with an interception on the day.

During the regular season the Argonauts went just 9-9 both SU and ATS to finish in second place in the East Division standings. The Stampeders were 12-6 SU and 10-8 ATS during the regular season, and ended up in second place in the West Division standings.
