Colts at home in Super Bowl XLIV
The Saints are closer geographically but the Colts may feel more at home in Miami for Super Bowl XLIV.
Three years ago, the Colts came to Miami as AFC champions and defeated the Bears in Super Bowl XLI. Peyton Manning overcame Devin Hester’s opening kickoff return for a TD in a 29-17 win that saw Indy easily cover the 6.5-point spread.
The Colts plan to stay at the same hotel and follow the same schedule and script in hopes they get the same Super Bowl result.

“We’ll make some adjustments, it’s not an iron-clad sort of routine. But, overall, we’ll probably be fairly close to what we’ve done previously,” said coach Jim Caldwell.
Meanwhile, the Saints – Gulf Coast neighbors of Florida - enter the big game on an emotional high and play in their first Super Bowl. Give the comfort and experience edge to the Colts in this one.
They Saints have been dominant away from the Superdome, winning eight of nine (with the only loss the meaningless Week 17 loss at Carolina three weeks ago. The Colts have been similarly dominant on the road, going 10-3 ATS in 13 games (two of them meaningless Week 17 games where they rested half their roster).
Head-to-head, the Colts obliterated the Saints the past two meetings, outscoring them 96-31 in the process. Perhaps that’s why the Super Bowl over under was set so high at Bovada this week (56).
And the fact Indy relinquished a chance at the perfect season in order to properly prepare to win the Super Bowl seems to have factored into the early betting trends. The line opened around -5.5 for Indy, bounced down to -4 at some shops and is now back to -6 at online sportsbooks such as Bovada and SportsBetting.ag.
It’s hard to bet against Peyton Manning when the stakes are big and they don’t get any bigger than Super Bowl XLIV.
