Cup final odds favor home team

Game 7s almost always go to the home team. Tonight's Stanley Cup final odds reflect this stat as the host Red Wings have jumped all the way up to -180 moneyline favorites against the Penguins.

It means you can get a +160 payout at Bovada on the Penguins, but is that a risk worth taking? Perhaps the UNDER is the better play as the total plunged under in 5 of the past 7 meetings.

Betting on hockey in June is a tricky proposition and there are no real trends or analyses that apply. You basically watch for recent form (which would indicate a Detroit home victory) and watch the game.

Check out the {URL=}full matchup report for this game{/URL}, which is your last chance to bet on the NHL this year. As soon as the Cup is raised tonight, you can rush to the web to see the Stanley Cup future odds for the 2010 season. Expect Detroit to lead that list again, win or lose tonight.

Dogs bite hard and pay out big

Underdog bettors took big bites of profit Thursday as the NBA’s Game 4 and a half dozen baseball dogs all came around.

The Lakers rode Derek Fisher – and not Kobe Bryant – to an OT win at Orlando, winning as 2.5-point underdogs at Bovada. NBA moneyline bettors who played on LA were also paid out.

Our pick of the OVER turned out to be wrong, as the 99-91 final went UNDER even with the help of OT.

In MLB, Pittsburgh won as +155 road dog for the second night in a row, while Seattle at +140 and the Colorado Rockies (which we mentioned here yesterday) won as +160 dogs at Milwaukee. We also put you onto the Red Sox as home dogs of +135 and they rallied to beat the Yankees again.

In all, 10 of the 15 games went to the ‘dogs.
