2016 New York Primary Betting Odds

Donald Trump

New York is going to be one of the most crucial states in the race for potential presidential nominees of both the Republicans and Democrats. New York has the most delegates so far this primary season for the Democrats (291) and the second most for the Republicans (95).

Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the huge favorites to win the primary in The Empire State for their respective parties. Trump was born and raised in Queens and has developed a large base of support within the state through his business dealings over the years. Clinton has long been connected with New York, as she was the state’s Senator from 2001 to 2009.

The biggest potential danger to Trump in New York is likely Ted Cruz. Trump has seen his stock take a hit recently with several notable hiccups regarding abortion and healthcare. Cruz has been the biggest benefactor of this and has seen his numbers rise, especially within the core Republican base. However, Cruz has seemingly alienated many New York voters by speaking to what he called "New York values."

Bernie Sanders is offering a legitimate threat to Clinton, especially after the Senator from Vermont has taken six of the past seven Democratic primaries. Defeating Clinton straight up in what basically equates to her home state will not be easy, but Sanders will see a personal victory if he can take over 40 percent of the vote.
