68th Primetime Emmy Awards Betting Odds

The best in television take center stage as the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards take place September 18. Though many of the top awards feature the same shows as last year, it is clear that we are in a golden age of television, as shows like Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot and Veep dominate water-cooler talk.

So let’s take a look at the odds for some of the categories ahead of the big night on Sunday.

Outstanding Drama Series

Game of Thrones finally came through and won this award in 2015 – and all it took was Breaking Bad ending. Repeat winners have generally dominated this award in recent years with only four shows claiming the award since 2008. GoT likely deserves to be the favorite considering everything the show put on the screen this previous season, but that doesn’t mean there are not other contenders.

Mr. Robot has gotten huge buzz within the television industry and viewers alike. The psychological thriller has glued many viewers to the screen, as Rami Malek has completely become lead character Elliot Alderson.

Outstanding Drama Series

Odds as of September 16 at Bovada

  • Game of Thrones -400
  • Mr. Robot +300
  • The Americans +1000
  • House of Cards +2000
  • Homeland +2200
  • Better Call Saul +3000
  • Downton Abbey +3000

Outstanding Comedy Series

Modern Family's five years of dominance in this category came to an end last year with Veep picking up the win. Veep is justifiably entering as a huge favorite considering its quality of writing and relation to current events – trying to dethrone a political satire in an election year is not easy.

There isn’t likely a ton of long-shot value in this category, but Black-ish would be the upset pick in my mind. It is coming off a very well-written second season and has refrained from becoming too one-dimensional.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Odds as of September 16 at Bovada

  • Veep -350
  • Master of None +600
  • Transparent +750
  • Modern Family +1200
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt +1200
  • Black-ish +1200
  • Silicon Valley +2500

Outstanding Limited Series

This category is the proof that television is alive and well. Each and every show nominated was a must-see and all tackle different subject matter in their own unique way.

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story is the odds-on favorite. Just like the original trial, this show captivated a nation and had people talking for weeks on end. However, Fargo managed to produce a second season, which was better than the masterfully crafted first and should be a real threat.

Outstanding Limited Series

Odds as of September 16 at Bovada

  • The People v. O.J. Simpson: An American Crime Story -300
  • Fargo +300
  • American Crime +750
  • Roots +1200
  • The Night Manager +2000
