Lol Summer Playoff Betting Preview

The first weekend of both the EU and NA Summer playoffs were a sight to behold. In the EU, we saw a massive upset as 6-7 Misfits toppled the 9-4 Unicorns of Love in three straight games. In the NA, we saw Team Dignitas squeak past Cloud9 in the early leader for best series of the playoffs.

There was plenty of value for bettors if they could tab both Misfits and Dignitas, as both ultimately closed as underdogs to their opponents.

Moving on to the second weekend of action, here is a quick breakdown of the semifinals for both the EU and NA this weekend:

EU LCS

Though it is fair to say that Misfits shutting out UoL in the quarters was shocking, it also showed just how far the team has come. Misfits entered the contest well prepared to capitalize on a unique, yet inconsistent UoL squad with Hanssama specifically standing out.

Despite improving, Misfits is playing the best team in the EU – by a wide margin – in Fnatic. The all-star squad easily defeated Misfits during the split and comes in with a wealth of experience. All in all, Misfits seems better poised to compete this time around, but Fnatic is the class of the EU.

The other semi matchup is much more intriguing with G2 eSports taking on H2K Gaming. G2 just got past Splyce in the quarters following a tense five-game series and have a proven track record of pulling it out when the lights shine the brightest. Though H2K got the second seed and a bye, the team has had a tendency to fold under the pressure.

G2 also took the one series between the two teams during the split thanks to a nearly perfect game 3 in just over 31 minutes. In that game, G2 held a nearly 20K gold lead and four of the five members of the team did not once get killed.

NA LCS

Team Dignitas pulled it out in the quarters and have been rewarded with facing a team they beat twice in the split in Team SoloMid. Ssumday had a spectacular quarters but ran a little bit hot and cold against TSM during the split. At no point was he a hindrance by any stretch, but ranged from spectacular to just OK.

On paper, TSM should coast through this affair. It might be the most well-rounded team they have put forth in their history and have gone 9-0 in NA LCS semis. Dignitas will enter as the hungry team but TSM always steps up its game in the playoffs.

Counter Logic Gaming find themselves in the semis, like was expected of them, but it didn’t come quite as easy as many thought. Both Stixxay and Huhi looked dominant against Team EnVyUs but there were a lot of issues with the rest of the squad. Specifically, Omargod’s play was an issue, as he posted a miserable 2.5 KDA in the series.

Immortals exceeded all expectations this split thanks to great team play. Olleh has cemented himself as the best support in the entire NA LCS but the laners need to start taking charge a bit more now that it is playoffs time.

The League of Legends Summer Split has closed out and the playoffs are set to begin. Of course, that means plenty of high-stakes action over the course of the next several weekends between the EU and NA. To make your life a little bit easier, we are here to bring you the odds and analysis of each matchup leading to each region’s respective finals.

EU LCS

The first game of the weekend sees the Unicorns of Love taking on Misfits. The Unicorns have proven to be one of the more consistent teams in the EU over the past several splits and have done so thanks to their odd meta gaming and unique champion selections. Misfits find themselves as the only team with a sub-.500 record heading into the playoffs. The squad is limping into the playoffs going just 2-6 in their past eight games with the two victories coming against terrible opposition.

Unicorns should take this match fairly easily but Samux and company have a tendency to lose a game here and there, so you could see this stretching into the fourth.

Unicorns of Love-275-1.5 (-120)OVER 3.5 (-375)
Misfits+180+1.5 (-120)UNDER 3.5 (+230)

The second EU semifinal pits G2 and Splyce against each other in what should be an intriguing matchup. G2 has not been the best domestically during this split but has seen their meta game come together as the season went on. The team also steamrolled Splyce in their one meetings back in Week 6, with Perkz shining in the match. Splyce is the definition of solid so far this split, beating the teams they should and not really pulling off any upsets.

G2 enters this contest as the rightful favorite. The team may have struggled throughout the split at times, but their experience is unmatched and they can play when the lights are the brightest.

G2 eSports-400-1.5 (-150)OVER 3.5 (-240)
Splyce+250+1.5 (+105)UNDER 3.5 (+160)

NA LCS

NA action kicks off when evenly matched Cloud9 and Team Dignitas clash. Cloud9 has struggled with consistency at times throughout the Summer Split but has won each of its past six matches, one of which came against Dignitas. Dignitas had probably the best solo top laner in the league this split, as Ssumday was easily the team’s MVP. However, Cloud9 did a solid job containing Ssumday throughout the split.

Cloud9 took both the meetings this split and it’s easy to see why they will likely win the quarters. Right now, I would say Cloud9 looks like the third-best team in NA.

2017 NA Summer Playoff Odds

Cloud9-225-1.5 (-110)OVER 3.5 (-400)
Team Dignitas+150+1.5 (-130)UNDER 3.5 (+250)

The first week of playoff action comes to a close when Counter Logic Gaming and Team EnVyUs face off on Sunday. CLG has been frustrating this split, seemingly beating the best and losing to the worst. The team seems to have a bad tendency to play to its competition but does have two victories over NV this split. All things considered, it’s a victory for NV to even be here but they need a victory in this matchup to even have a chance to qualify for worlds. It is do-or-die for LirA and company.

If there is one big upset this weekend, it’s going to be EV beating CLG. Not saying it will but I would not be shocked to see it either. However, CLG is red-hot since OmarGod took over jungler duties and I expect that to continue.
