2017 PGA Tour Props: Who's Going to Win a Major?

Newcomers dominated the 2015-16 PGA Tour season, as first-time major winners Danny Willett (Masters), Dustin Johnson (U.S. Open), Henrik Stenson (Open Championship) and Jimmy Walker (PGA Championship) cleaned up on golf’s biggest stage.

Johnson and Stenson have been in the top tier for quite some time, but the triumphs of Willett and Walker caught many people by surprise – including sportsbooks. Willett was +3300 when the Masters began, while Walker’s PGA Championship odds were a staggeringly high +12500 on the tournament’s first day.

With the Masters starting on April 6, Bovada is offering props on some of the Tour’s biggest names claiming at least one of golf’s highest-profile events. Johnson, Stenson, Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama, J.B. Holmes, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Paul Casey, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Ryan Moore, Sergio Garcia, Thomas Pieters and the legendary Tiger Woods are all available to wager on.

My three favorite picks are Spieth (+175), Matsuyama (+300) and Rahm (+550). Matsuyama is one of the best players on the Tour without a major to his name, and Rahm is a rising star who’s playing phenomenal golf right now.

Spieth had a down year after taking the golfing world by storm in 2014-15, but I expect the Texan will get back on track sooner rather than later. Spieth’s meltdown at the Masters is still fresh in his mind, and that’s only going to create more motivation for him to once again slip on the green jacket at Augusta National.

Will any of these golfers win a major in 2016-17?
