Australian Open Odds

Some of the PGA Tour’s brightest stars take center stage this weekend for the Australian Open, and one online sportsbook has you covered if you’re looking to get in on the action.

Jordan Spieth is the +300 favorite at Bovada, but Adam Scott is not far behind at +325. Cameron Smith (+2200), Geoff Ogilvy (+2200), John Senden (+2200), Jhonattan Vegas (+2500), Aaron Baddeley (+2500), Rod Pampling (+3000), Brett Colleta (+3300) and Curtis Luck (+3300) round out the 10 likeliest men to triumph according to oddsmakers.

The world No. 5 Spieth arrives in Sydney with his ranking at its lowest point in nearly two years, and he hasn’t won a tournament since the end of May. The Texan is quite comfortable playing in Australia, having hoisted the hardware there in 2014.

Unfortunately for Spieth backers, he’s going to have to adjust to some new surroundings due to the event being played at the Royal Sydney Golf Club. The 2014 and 2015 editions took place at the Australian Golf Club. Spieth hasn’t played a stroke play event since the Tour Championship in September, so rust may be a factor.

Is Baddeley, the back-to-back champion in 1999 and 2000, primed to hit pay dirt once again? The good folks over at Australian Gambling think it's possible. There's tons of value in backing Bads at +2500 if you think he can turn back the clock.

The Australian Open is one of the “national opens,” meaning it has a special status in the Official World Golf Ranking point system since 2007. A minimum of 32 points is awarded to the winner regardless of the strength of the field.

Betting on an Aussie to win outright is a safe play. In the last 20 years, Australians have won the bragging rights on a staggering 17 occasions.
