Dean & Deluca Invitational Odds

Adam Scott PGA

The Dean & Deluca Invitational is the first non-major tournament of its type on the 2016 PGA Tour season. One hundred and twenty-two players have been selected to participate in this year’s edition, with nine of the top 30 golfers in the world rankings in the field.

The event, which is commonly referred to as the Colonial due to its setting at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, is one of the oldest and most historical venues on the Tour. Play started in 1946, making the Colonial the longest-running host site on the circuit.

At Bovada, world No. 2 Jordan Spieth is a +650 favorite to garner the title, with Adam Scott (+1200), Matt Kuchar (+1400), Charley Hoffman (+2200) and Zach Johnson (+2500) right behind him. Chris Kirk (+2800), Kevin Chappell (+2800), Patrick Reed (+2800), Charl Schwartzel (+3300) and Danny Lee (+3300) round out the top 10 at the shop.

At just over 7,200 yards, the par-70 course is one of the shortest in professional golf. There are only two par 5s, which means golfers who specialize in bombing the ball will not have any sort of advantage here.

Instead, accuracy off the tee and strong wedge play is imperative to finding success at the Dean & Deluca. Sharp sports bettors would be wise to consider players who specialize in those departments when placing their bets.

While Spieth may be the favorite, I’m not convinced there’s value in backing the Texan this weekend. Spieth has never won in his home state, but has three runner-up finishes in the Lone Star State. He’s still finding his groove after an extremely disappointing display at Augusta National, and it may be wise to wait for him to string together back-to-back solid performances before putting any money down on him.

Kirk is the defending champion at Colonial, but don’t forget about Scott. The Aussie may have cooled off a bit after his impressive start to 2016 but he knows the course well after emerging triumphant in 2014.

Here’s a look at the book’s full list of odds.
