PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs: The Barclays Odds

The PGA Tour season kicks into high gear this weekend when the FedExCup Playoffs begin at the Barclays Championship. The tournament, which is hosted at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York, features an extremely deep field.

At Bovada, Jason Day is a +750 favorite. Dustin Johnson (+900), Rory McIlroy (+1000), Henrik Stenson (+1200), Jordan Spieth (+1400), Justin Rose (+2200), Brooks Koepka (+2800), Hideki Matsuyama (+2800), Phil Mickelson (+2800) and Adam Scott (+3300) round out the top 10.

The four playoff events offer a combined $32 million in prize money, meaning a total of $67 million is on the line over the next month. The PGA Tour introduced the season-long points competition in 2007, offering $35 million in bonus money and culminating with a playoff system that crowns a single FedExCup champion.

During the PGA Tour campaign, golfers earn points based on their results and are rewarded for high finishes. The top 125 players advance to the FedExCup Playoffs before a series of cuts shortens the field.

The Barclays hosts the aforementioned 125 golfers, followed by the Deutsche Bank Championship (100 golfers) and the BMW Championship (70 golfers). A reseed then takes place, seeding the top 30 players for the final event - the Tour Championship - where the FedExCup Champion is crowned.
