Odds as of February 22

As a former winner, Im is going to be high on the oddsboard for the Honda Classic every year, especially with a weaker field than usual. However, it may not be fully warranted. The Korean has finished inside the top 10 at PGA National just one other time and missed the cut last year.

Im has been solid this season so far, though, finishing with four top-10 finishes in his 10 events played.

Honda Classic Course Analysis

The Champion Course at PGA National is one of the most difficult courses the PGA Tour stops at on an annual basis. With the average winning score since 2015 coming in at 9 under, the ability to avoid bogeys will be just as important as birdie conversion.

Looking at past champions at the Palm Beach Gardens, Florida course — such as Im, Keith Mitchell and Justin Thomas — one constant is their ability to get up and down, turning potential bogeys into pars and birdies. Thomas, though not participating in this year’s tournament, is one of the best on the tour when it comes to strokes gained around the green, averaging .85 per round in 2023.

Scrambling will be needed as this Tom Fazio design plays to a par 70 and stretches to just about 7,100 yards. While on paper it may not seem like much, the constant demand and grind of PGA National wears on these players as water hazards are extremely prevalent, forcing competitors to bail out in lieu of penalty strokes.

2023 Honda Classic Expert Picks

Christiaan Bezuidenhout +5000 To Win

There isn’t a golfer who better delivers the around-the-green value we’re looking for than Bezuidenhout. He ranks third on the tour in strokes gained ATG (.82 per round) and ranks 18th in terms of scrambling.

Bezuidenhout hasn’t been in great form recently, finishing 58th at +2 at the Genesis Invitational last week. However, the South African turned around after a missed cut at the Genesis last year and parlayed it into a top-25 finish at the Honda Classic, including a final-round score of 66.

At +5000 odds, this is the type of value pick we’re eyeing and it certainly doesn’t hurt that a South African has won this tournament twice since 2008.

Matt Kuchar +2800 To Win

Bezuidenhout is our numbers pick, but Kuchar is the guy when it comes to recent form.

Kuchar has finished inside the top eight in three of his last five tournaments. With a strong fourth-round showing at the Genesis last week, he moved into eighth place in a great field, ahead of guys like Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland and Jason Day. With many of the big hitters and big names not participating at PGA National this week, an in-form golfer like Kuchar could take advantage while he’s hot.

How To Bet On Golf Props

Golf is unique for many reasons, but one of them is the significant number of betting props available at weekly tournaments. The Honda Classic is no different.

Sportsbooks are offering odds on things like whether there will be a hole-in-one, OVER/UNDERs on the winning score for the eventual champion and odds on which players from specific countries will have the lowest score, to name a few.

Like other sports, betting on props is a fun and unique way to enhance your golf gambling experience.

Honda Classic Live Betting

Live Betting is arguably one of the most exciting ways to bet on golf. If the player you placed a pre-tournament bet on is out of the running at any point during the Honda Classic, you can bet on another golfer as the days go by and have another stake in the game.

If there are only a few men in the hunt on the final day, the odds likely won’t be significantly high, but your chances of winning are.
