Patrick Cantlay is +1200 to win at the Travelers Championship

2023 Travelers Championship Odds & Picks: Cantlay A Strong Option To Win

A dramatic 2023 U.S. Open makes way for the 2023 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut as competitors travel across the country from Los Angeles Country Club to TPC River Highlands.

Eight of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings will be making the trip with all five inside the top five included.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win the tournament at +650. The Texan arrives having finished inside the top 12 in his last 16 events on the PGA Tour, but he is inexplicably in possession of just two victories. He comes off a third-place finish at the U.S. Open where he implemented a new putter and was rewarded with his first positive strokes gained putting week since his runner-up result at the PGA Championship.

Getting the better of him in the City of Angels was Rory McIlroy who cashed in on his 19th top-10 finish in a major championship since his last victory at the 2014 PGA Championship. McIlroy is listed at +1000 to win his second event of the season and rides four straight top-10 finishes into a venue where he has finished inside the top 20 in all four attempts.

Jon Rahm (+1000), Xander Schauffele (+1200) and Patrick Cantlay (+1200) round out those who are listed below +2000 to win the Travelers Championship.

2023 Travelers Championship Betting Picks

Below are our picks to win this year's Travelers Championship along with some prop bets.

Scottie Scheffler (+650 to win):

What more is there to say about Scheffler? He currently ranks first in total strokes gained, first in strokes gained tee to green, first in strokes gained off the tee and first in strokes gained approach over the last six months.

The world No. 1 consistently gives himself opportunities to enter the winner’s circle, and conventional wisdom suggests he is overdue to raise a trophy. TPC River Highlands could be the perfect landing spot for him as the trouble that lurks will have the potential to eliminate additional contenders.

Add in the implementation of a new putter, and Scheffler should have every club in the bag working which should mean a third victory of the season is in his very near future.

Patrick Cantlay (+1200 to win):

TPC River Highlands presents a high level of comfort for Cantlay who made his PGA Tour debut here as an amateur. He fired a first-round 60 and has since continued his love affair with the Pete Dye redesign.

After a few missed cuts to begin his professional career, the world No. 4 has settled in with five straight top-15 finishes including a T-13 effort last year. Cantlay was paired with Schauffele in the final round before he fell off the pace but was in contention with just 18 holes to play.

Despite not winning this season, Cantlay arrives with some of the best form of his career. Over the last six months, he ranks fourth in total strokes gained, fourth in strokes gained tee to green, third in strokes gained off the tee and 15th in strokes gained approach. He has yet to enjoy a reliable week with the putter in hand which is an oddity for a putter of his caliber.

Si Woo Kim (+5000 to win):

The South Korean continues to enjoy the best season of his career. A winner already at the 2023 Sony Open, Kim is slowly making his way into the upper echelon of professional golfers.

Kim ranks 19th in total strokes gained over the last six months and is amid a stretch that includes top-five finishes at the AT&T Byron Nelson and the Memorial Tournament. Kim consistently gains strokes throughout the entirety of his golf bag, and he returns to a golf course that suits his game to a tee.

With a pair of top-25 finishes at TPC River Highlands in his career, Kim’s current form and affinity for Pete Dye golf courses should allow him to once again contend come Sunday.

Aaron Rai (+350 to finish inside the top 20):

The Englishman was an omission from the U.S. Open as he failed to make his way through sectional qualifying. Despite this, Rai continues to play some of the best golf of his career highlighted by a strong finish to his RBC Canadian Open.

Falling just one stroke out of the playoff between Nick Taylor and Tommy Fleetwood, Rai settled for a third-place finish. This comes on the heels of a top-20 effort at the Charles Schwab Challenge that saw him gain nearly eight strokes on the field on approach.

The 28-year-old also finished inside the top 20 at TPC Louisiana and TPC Sawgrass – two golf courses also designed by Pete Dye.

Beau Hossler (+450 to finish inside the top 20):

Hossler rides eight consecutive made cuts into New England. Like Rai, Hossler was not a participant at the U.S. Open, but the last time we saw him he was on the second page of the leaderboard at the Memorial Tournament.

Ultimately finishing T24 at Muirfield Village, Hossler leaned on a well-rounded effort that included massive gains off the tee. A former runner-up finisher at this golf course in 2018 and with his short game in order, Hossler will just need to see a decent performance from his iron play in order to contend.

Even if he is just neutral, Hossler has the diverse skillset to contend in such a stout field as he did his last time out.
