PGA: WGC-Cadillac Championship Odds

Dustin Johnson

The PGA Tour’s Florida swing continues this weekend as the WGC-Cadillac Championship gets underway in Miami. When it comes to odds lists, it’s Northern Ireland export Rory McIlroy leading the way. Only two of the top 50 golfers in the world will not be in the field, meaning there’s plenty of value to go around for bettors.

McIlroy is a +900 favorite at Bovada, with Bubba Watson (+1000), Jordan Spieth (+1100), Dustin Johnson (+1100), Adam Scott (+1200), and Jason Day (+1200) on his heels. Fresh off a win at the Honda Classic, Scott will be looking to parlay that momentum at a course that saw him finish inside the top-six in three of his last six appearances at Doral.

The course earned the nickname “The Blue Monster” due to the vast amount of water in play on the majority of holes, which favors longer hitters. Similar to last week’s venue, golfers could have to contend with windy conditions due to its seaside location.

In fact, being long off the tee is crucial in this tournament. Last year’s edition saw the first (Dustin Johnson), second (J.B. Holmes) and third (Bubba Watson) place golfers finish the year in the top three for driving distance. Four of the top five in 2014 also ranked inside the top 10 in that category.

Considering McIlroy and Spieth are coming off a missed cut, their price doesn’t look as appealing as it usually would. Spieth is making his third appearance at Doral, and the 23-year-old has never fared particularly well at the East Coast course.

Patrick Reed took home first place in 2014 and is available at a great price of +3500. As is always the case with Reed, if he can keep his emotions in check, his raw talent alone gives him a chance to win every week.
