2015 Kentucky Derby Morning Line Odds

American Pharoah opened as the morning line favorite of 5/2 for the 2015 Kentucky Derby after the draw on Wednesday and sits with the same line on those betting odds entering the final stretch of wagering for Saturday's race at Churchill Downs.

Editor's Note: A third horse, International Star, was scratched from the field for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday morning.

As of Saturday morning Dortmund was then at 9/2 on those Kentucky Derby odds, with Carpe Diem at 7/1, Frosted and Firing Line at 10/1, Mubtaahij at 15/1, Materiality at 16/1, and Danzig Moon at 18/1. The rest of the field was at odds of 27/1 or longer.

In comparison, online sportsbook Bovada was listing American Pharoah at 13/5 on their 2015 Kentucky Derby odds as of Saturday morning, with Dortmund second at 18/5, Carpe Diem third at 8/1, and Mubtaahij and Firing Line following behind those leaders at 12/1 to win the race.

Despite drawing the No. 18 post position for the 2015 Kentucky Derby on Wednesday afternoon American Pharoah still opened as the 5/2 morning line favorite on the odds to win the first Triple Crown race of the season on Saturday.

Editor's Note: With the scratch of No. 11 Stanford from the field American Pharoah will now start from post position No. 17.

Dortmund then opened at 3/1 on the morning line, followed by Carpe Diem at 8/1, Materiality and Firing Line at 12/1, Frosted and Upstart at 15/1, and Mubtaahij at 20/1. Ocho Ocho Ocho, Keen Ice, War Story, and Mr. Z opened as the morning line longshots at 50/1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Prior to the post position draw online sportsbook Bovada had American Pharoah pegged as the 9/4 favorite on the odds to win the Kentucky Derby, with Dortmund second at 9/2, Carpe Diem third at 7/1, Materiality fourth at 12/1, and Mubtaahij fifth at 14/1. The updated odds at Bovada after the draw had American Pharoah at 11/4 and Dortmund at 13/4.

American Pharoah has consistenly been the Kentucky Derby favorite and a top pick of horse racing experts such as Michael Dempsey of Turf 'n' Sport leading up to the race.

"American Pharoah looks like the real deal, trouncing his competition at Oaklawn Park," Dempsey told OddsShark.com earlier in the week. "Baffert has a good shot of winning his fourth Kentucky Derby. He has a strong one-two punch with the undefeated Dortmund."
