The two early favorites in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic Future Odds will square off on Saturday in the $400,000 Beldame Invitational (G1), their final prep race for this year’s champion event.
The Breeders’ Cup will be held this year at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 2-3.
The Bill Mott trained Royal Delta, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs is the early betting favorite for this year’s running at betting odds of 5-2.

The four-year-old filly is the even money favorite for Saturday’s Beldame, which drew a field of seven who will go 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Belmont Park, a final key prep for the Ladies Classic.
Royal Delta was a game second last out in the Personal Ensign (G1) at Saratoga, which snapped a two race win streak.
After finishing a disappointing ninth facing in the boys in the Dubai World Cup (G1), she returned to the U.S. and won the Fleur de Lis (G2) at Churchill Downs and the Delaware Handicap (G2) at Delaware Park.
She will meet up with her main rival It’s Tricky for the fifth time in the Beldame. It’s Tricky is the co-second choice in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic Future Odds with Plum Pretty at 9-2 betting odds. [ See the latest Breeders Cup odds on all the world championship races ]
Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, It’s Tricky was third in the Personal Ensign, checking in a length behind Royal Delta for the place spot. She is the 7-5 second choice in the Beldame.
At Santa Anita Park on Saturday a field of nine will go in the $250,000 Zenyatta (G1) which will likely produce several top contenders for the Ladies’ Classic.
Include Me Out, winner of the Clement Hirsch (G1) at Del Mar on Aug. 4 is one of the leading contenders for the Zenyatta and is currently listed at 8-1 in future wagering for the Ladies’ Classic.
Other contenders in the race along with the Ladies’ Classic Future Odds include Switch (45-1), Amani (18-1), Love Theway You Are (22-1), Joyful Victory (50-1), and Love and Pride (15-1).
