Huge Big East betting battles
With March Madness just weeks away, college basketball betting is reaching is zenith and several Saturday games offer great money-making potential. Check out the NCAAB odds and previews on these games thanks to OddsBlogger.
Big East Odds - Notre Dame Fighting Irish (16-11 7-8 Big East) at No. 1 Connecticut Huskies -11 (26-2 16-2 Big East)
Bovada has the Huskies posted as 11-point favorites in this game.
The Irish are on the bubble right now, but they can burst that bubble and be, pretty much, assured an invite to the Big Dance if they can win this tough road game against the top-ranked team in the nation.
The key to this game will be if Notre Dame's power forward Luke Harangody (24 ppg 12.6 rpg) can score on UCONN"s 7'3" monster Hasheem Thabeet. Thabeet is a defensive stopper inside and if he can contain Harangody the Huskies will be in good shape.
UCONN have one of the best defenses in the Big East and in the last game between these two teams, which UCONN won and snapped the Irish's 45 game home winning streak, the Huskies held the Irish to only 32.9% shooting.
Both teams have won two games in a row, but look for that streak to end tonight for the Irish, as the Huskies will win this game easily and cover the spread.
Big East Odds - Georgetown Hoyas (14-12 5-10 Big East) at No. 12 Villanova Wildcats -6 (23-5 11-4 Big East)
Bovada has the Wildcats posted as 6-point favorites in this game.
The Hoyas may have to win the Big East Tournament in order to play in the NCAA Tournament. They were ranked as high as ninth this season in early January, but since then they have gone 4-11.
For the Hoyas to have any chance in this game DaJuan Summers (13.6 ppg) has to snap out of his recent slump, as he has averaged 8.8 ppg on 34.5% in six games this month.
The Hoyas will have to contain Dante Cunningham (16.4 ppg 7.2 rpg) and Scottie Reynolds (15.4 ppg) to win this game. Reynolds is averaging 18.4 ppg in his last seven games and the Wildcats are 9-0 when he scores 18 or more.
The Wildcats have won three games in a row and the Hoyas have lost two games in a row.
Look for the Wildcats to continue their hot play, as they should easily win this game over their Big East rival and cover the spread.
ACC odds - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (10-16 1-12 ACC) at No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels -23.5 (24-3 10-3 ACC)
Bovada has the Tar Heels posted as 23.5-point favorites on the ACC odds list for this game.
The Tar Heels are coming off a tough OT loss to Maryland 88-85 last Saturday, where they blew a 16-point, second-half lead.
The Yellow Jackets will have their hands full with the solid inside - outside game of the Tar Heels led by forward Tyler Hansbrough (21 ppg 7.7 rpg) and guard (16.2 ppg).
For the Yellow Jackets to have any chance in this game they will have to play their best defensive game of the year and Gani Lawal (15.2 ppg 10 rpg) has to have a monster game.
Tech has lost six games in a row, has not won in North Carolina since 1996, and has lost 17 straight road games against ranked opponents.
The Tar Heels should easily win this game, but a 23.5 point spread is tough to call, as I think the Yellow Jackets will cover and not get embarrassed today.
