Lakers leading NBA future odds

The NBA and NHL playoffs are approaching and there are still some good future odds that you can get on teams that may have a legit shot to go all the way. But first, we focus on a marquee game from each league tonight, as you look to focus on pro hoops and pucks a day before the onslaught begins with {URL=}March Madness wagering and bracket games.{/URL}

Miami Heat (36-30) at Boston Celtics -6.5 (50-18) O/U 193 7 PM

OK, so the Celtics are struggling right now, 4-6 in last 10 games and losers of two in a row, but they have been without Kevin Garnett, who should be back soon.

The Celtics are currently in the second position in the Eastern Conference and are in danger of falling to third, as they are only 1/2 game ahead of the Magic. The Heat are in the fifth position and trail the Hawks by three games for the fourth position. The NBA odds for tonight don't actually reflect this.

The time for the Heat is now if they want to overtake the Hawks and host a first round playoff series.

The Celtics have the second-ranked defense in the league and if they can contain Dwyane Wade (29.9 ppg) and Jermaine O'Neal (13.7 ppg,) they should be in good shape, as the Heat do not have a lot of scoring options.

The Heat need to play good perimeter defense and not allow Paul Pierce (20.4 ppg) and Ray Allen (18.4 ppg) to fire away from 3-point land.

The Heat are a weak rebounding team with a rebounding differential of -2.8 rpg, which does not bode well since the Celtics have a rebounding differential of +5.4 rpg. The Celtics are banged up and tonight is THE night for the Heat to steal one in Boston over the defending champs.

NBA future odds at online sportsbook show several teams with enticing value. The Cavaliers are on track for home court throughout the playoffs and have the third best odds at +300.

The Spurs are also a good pick at +900, as they are second in the Western Conference and it looks like they will face the Lakers in the West finals. (The full list of NBA future odds can be seen at Bovada and updated daily.)

NHL game odds

New Jersey Devils (46-20-3 95 points) at Carolina Hurricanes (36-28-7 79 points)

The Devils have won eight of nine games to move within four points of Boston for the top-spot in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes have the eight spot in the East and are being chased by Florida and Buffalo for the last playoff spot.

This game is important to both teams, as they each are jockeying for position in the conference. The Hurricanes are lucky tonight, as they will probably face Devils backup goalie Kevin Weekes (7-4-0 2.27 GAA) instead of starter Martin Brodeur (14-3-2).

If Carolina is going to make the playoffs their offense needs to wake up, as they are only averaging 2.77 goals a game, while giving up 2.79 goals a game. has future odds posted for this season's Stanley Cup winners and there are a few teams that can go all the way that have good payout odds. The Boston Bruins currently have the best record in the East and they have odds of +500 to win it all over at, but keep an eye as the Stanley Cup futures can change with a single loss or a single injury. If there are odds you like now, it could be wise to wager it now.

Pittsburgh is hot right now, 8-0-2 in their last 10 games) and they are at +1000. Vancouver may be a longshot at +1200, but they have been moving up in the standings in the West and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.
