Magic Shaq and NHL trade deadline
Shaq dominated one of his former teams on Sunday and tries to do the same against another former team in Orlando tonight.
And if you like looking for NBA underdog odds, you should check out Bovada as the Suns are 7-3 ATS their past 10 trips to Orlando.
The Suns have gone 6-2 since Alvin Gentry took over the head coaching duties. Shaq has been on a tear recently and tonight the Suns will get Steve Nash back after he has missed a few games with an ankle injury.
Shaq (18.8 ppg 8.8 rpg) has looked like Superman of old, as in his last two games he has dominated. In Friday night's win over the Toronto Raptors, he went for 45 points and 11 boards and in the Suns huge win over the Lakers on Sunday, he went for 33 points and seven boards.
In those games he shot a combined 34/52 from the floor for an insane FG% of just over 65%.
Tonight, old Superman will take on the new Superman in Dwight Howard (20.9 ppg 14.1 rpg). If Shaq wants to really show he is back he will have to have a good game against the most dominant center in the NBA, which is what Shaq used to be.
The Suns have to play good perimeter defense against the Magic, as they are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league (39.2%).
This is the beginning of an important four-game road trip, as in every game they will face a playoff-bound team. If the Suns want to move into the top eight in the Western Conference and make the playoffs they need to have a good road trip.
The Magic are currently in the third position in the Eastern Conference, but are they good enough to challenge the Celtics and Cavaliers? The Magic can really send a message that they are a legit threat in the East if they can tame the hot Suns and shut down Shaq.
Even though the Suns are on fire it is tough betting NBA underdogs in games like this, as the Magic are 22-7 at home.
Look for a great battle in the middle tonight and for Shaq to show he still has some gas left in the diesel tank. This is THE type of game for betting NBA underdogs, as the Suns have no choice but to start winning and with Shaq firing on all cylinders they will do just that tonight upsetting the Magic in the Sunshine State.
NHL Trade Deadline
The next few days offers up some great NHL odds and chances to cherrypick wins for hockey bettors, but you have to be on your toes. The trick is getting the news quickly, sizing up the impact of the trade, then getting your money down quickly before NHL lines move at the sportsbook.
The trade deadline is March 4th and there may be some trades taking place between teams looking to acquire some pieces for the stretch run. The Penguins picked up F Chris Kunitz sending D Ryan Whitney to the Ducks and yesterday F Myles Stoesz and D Niclas Havelid were traded to the Devils for D Anssi Salmela.
The big name that may be on the move is Chris Pronger, but even with all the deals that may get done it probably will not affect the NFL Stanley Cup futures betting, as the Red Wings are still the odds on favorite and the team to beat.
