Mizzou big favorites in Alamo Bowl odds tonight
It’s a classic battle between a high-scoring Big 12 team and a defensive-minded Big Ten team. And while Mizzou is a big favorite, more money has been coming in on the Wildcats to even the Alamo Bowl odds.
Also, as with most bowl games, motivation is key. Will the Tigers rebound from getting thrashed by Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game or slink away and open themselves up to an upset here?
No. 23 Northwestern Wildcats (9-3) vs. No. 21 Missouri Tigers -13.5 (9-4) O/U 64
This is a classic Big Ten vs. Big 12 matchup and the main question for this game is, can the Wildcats and their 51st ranked defense stop the high-flying, fourth-ranked passing offense of the Tigers?
The Wildcats have a decent offense, ranked 63rd in passing yards per game and 58th in rushing yards, and they will face a weak Mizzou defense that ranks 99th in the nation. They also have one of the weakest pass defenses in the nation, something college football bettors must consider.
The Wildcats defense will have to get to Chase Daniel (4,135 yds 37 TD 15 INT) and not give him time to throw. The best defense of the Wildcats may be their rushing offense, as if they can run the ball they can keep the dynamic offense of the Tigers on the sidelines.
If this game becomes a shootout, there is no way that the Wildcats can keep up with the Tigers. And if it does, the Alamo Bowl total bet could be surpassed by halftime.
The Tigers have a weak defense, but you do not really need one if you average 43.2 points per game (ranked sixth in the nation).
Daniel had problems in the end of the year turning the ball over and that led to the Tigers losing their last two games of the regular season.
This season, the Wildcats were 6-5 ATS and the Tigers were 5-7. College football bettors looking to back the underdog Wildcats can usually get the best NCAAF underdog odds at Bovada
The Wildcats are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games and the total has gone Under in four of the Wildcats last five games. The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in its last five games and in the Tigers last 10 games when playing teams outside the Big 12, they are 9-1.
OddsBlogger Alamo Bowl Pick:
Ok, so the Wildcats defense only gave up an average of 12 points in their last two games, but they were playing Michigan and Illinois. Look for Chase Daniel to have a big day and for the Tigers to score early and often. The Tigers’ defense will also give up a lot of points, but their offense will score more, as the will win this game and cover the spread. I would also take the Over in this game in a second, as even if the Over were set at 74 I would still take the Over.
