Rockies Have Yet to Lose With Hoffman as Their Starter

Extending their winning streak to six last night, the Rockies are on yet another roll and they’ll call upon Jeff Hoffman (4-0, 2.25 ERA) tonight looking to tie a season high with their seventh win in a row. Their opponents had their seven-game streak snapped by the Rox last night but they’ll attempt to climb back on the horse in Colorado this evening when they send the suddenly slinging Taijuan Walker (5-3, 3.32 ERA) to the mound.

SHARK BITES
  • The Rockies are 3-0 SU in their last 3 games vs the Diamondbacks.
  • The total has gone UNDER in the Rockies' last 5 matchups against the Diamondbacks.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 11 of the D-backs' last 14 games against teams with winning records.

It’s looking like the Rox have something special in Jeff Hoffman and the fact that he was disappointed in his start where he allowed just one run in a Colorado win says a lot about his mentality. He and the Rockies opened as favorites for this matchup against the Snakes and given the unpredictability of Taijuan Walker, that’s completely understandable.

Walker has the tendency to get batted around and that’s a horrible attribute to have at Coors Field. The last time he pitched in Denver, the once touted prospect gave up seven hits and the D-backs lost 5-2.

Colorado has the best home batting average in the bigs at .295 and should spell a ton of trouble for any pitcher who has a high WHIP like Walker does (1.30). Any lifted ball at Coors has a chance to reach the wall or get over it and if Taijuan isn’t careful tonight, he could be taking an early seat.
