Cubs’ Pitching is Starting to Resemble Last Year’s Squad

The Chicago Cubs have been waiting all season long to get consistent pitching performances, but it’s finally arrived. The Cubs aim to match their season-high winning streak of six games Saturday when they host the Atlanta Braves. Sportsbooks opened the Braves as +220 road underdogs for the contest.

Shark Bites
  • The Cubs are 8-0 in their last eight home games.
  • The Cubs are 4-0 in Jon Lester’s last four starts vs the Braves.
  • The Braves are 2-10 in their last 12 vs the NL Central.

Lucas Sims and Jon Lester will get the nod for the Braves and Cubs, respectively. Sims (2-4, 4.41 ERA) allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out seven Philadelphia Phillies in his last time out. The performance was the longest of his six-start career. The hurler owns a 1-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in three road starts and will face the reigning World Series champs for the first time.

Lester (8-7, 4.37) is slated to make his first start after getting sent to the disabled list for two weeks. The ace is winless in his last four turns and has already allowed 20 home runs, which is one shy of his total from 2016.

The Braves have been a terrible SU wager in recent meetings with the Cubs. In the last 17 meetings between the Cubs and Braves, Atlanta is 3-14 SU.
