Price Debuts as Sox Open in Cleveland

One of the prized acquisitions in the offseason was David Price moving from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Boston Red Sox for an insane amount of money. The lefty can begin earning said salary as the Sox open their 2016 with a visit to the Cleveland Indians Tuesday.

Shark Bites
  • The Red Sox are 0-6 SU in their last six games in Cleveland.
  • The favorite is 10-2 SU in their last 12 meetings between the Indians and Red Sox.
  • Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts are a combined 0-8 versus Kluber.

This game was supposed to go Monday but had to be postponed due to snow, wind and frigid temps. Weather still won't be ideal as temperatures in Cleveland are expected to be in the low-30s.

Price, who spent half the season with the Detroit Tigers before moving to the Jays in the middle of the 2015 campaign, was excellent versus Cleveland in 2015. The lefty went 2-1 with a 1.27 ERA in 28 1/3 innings over four starts last season.

Toeing the slab for the Tribe will be 2014 Cy Young Sportsbook Corey Kluber. Kluber made two starts versus the BoSox in 2015 going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA but posted an otherworldly WHIP of 0.857 in those two starts.

Price has been dynamite throughout his career when pitching in Cleveland’s Progressive Field. In eight career starts, the southpaw is 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. He has posted a 9.4 K/9 and has allowed just two home runs in 50 innings of work there.
