Colorado Rockies at Florida Marlins

The Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies conclude a four-game series today with Florida heavily favored with ace Josh Johnson set to start.

View Rockies at Marlins Matchup Odds and Stats The Marlins have won four of their last five games, including taking two of their first three games against Colorado.

On Wednesday Ricky Nolasco held the Rockies to two runs while striking out eight over eight innings, and Gaby Sanchez drove in three runs in a 5-2 Marlins win. The loss dropped the Rockies to 2-4 since the All-Star break and they've been held to two runs or less in three of those losses.

Runs may hard to come by for Colorado again today against Johnson (10-3, 1.62). Johnson boasts the best ERA in baseball and has allowed more than two earned runs only three times this season. The last time a team scored more than two runs against Johnson was in May. Johnson last took the mound against Washington and tossed six shutout innings, allowing seven hits with seven strikeouts.

Johnson has owned the Rockies so far in his career with a 2-0 record and 1.04 ERA in three appearances against them. Drawing the unenviable task of pitching against Johnson is Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa. (3-2, 6.16).

De La Rosa came off the DL right before the All Star break and he's been horrible so far. In his last start against Cincinnati he lasted only 3 1-3 innings after getting pounded for seven runs on four hits while walking five. His record since returning from the DL is 0-1 with a 12.91 ERA. He faced the Marlins back in April and earned a win after allowing two runs on four hits in five innings.

Not surprisingly with Johnson on the hill the Marlins are heavily favored today at -215 at Bovada. Johnson may be the best pitcher in baseball right now, but thanks to some lame run support the Marlins are only 3-3 in his last six starts.

Taking a flier on the Rockies may not be a bad wager tonight considering you'll be getting them at +195 odds. The total for today's game was set at 7, and judging by Johnson's recent starts you'll want to go with the UNDER. There haven't been more than seven runs scored in a Johnson start since May 23. In nine starts since then the combined score has gone over five runs only once.
