After having their first game rained out, the Rockies and Nationals finally got their series underway last night and it was Colorado that earned the underdog win. With Erick Fedde set to make his major-league debut for the Nats in the first half of today’s doubleheader, there’s a good chance the Rox wrap this thing up before this evening’s finale.
Washington was hoping to keep its top pitching prospect in the minors for a while longer but Stephen Strasburg’s trip to the disabled list forced the Nats’ hand and we’ll get to see what Fedde is made of against the hottest hitting team in baseball.
A line had yet to be posted for this game at the time of writing but expect it to open close to even. If it does, a bet on the Rockies could be the play to make.
Kyle Freeland (10-7, 3.64 ERA) makes the start for the Mile-High mashers, getting his first ever look at the Nationals’ batting lineup. In the month of July, the Rox’ rook has been spectacular, posting a 2.78 ERA in 22.2 innings of work.
The wind is blowing out to center field at Nationals Park this afternoon and could lead to your standard long fly balls turning into home runs. The Rockies and Nats are the two best slugging teams in baseball since the break, don’t be afraid of the OVER.
