Dodgers Padres Matchup Preview

The San Diego Padres have let the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies back into the National League West race and even the Los Angeles Dodgers have a glimmer of hope. The Padres had the division in firm control a couple of weeks ago but now their lead is virtually non-existent. They host the Dodgers on Tuesday and while the Padres are at home the pitching edge in this game is with Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are set to send Clayton Kershaw to the mound on Tuesday night in the second game of this three-game series. He is 11-9 on the season with a 3.01 ERA. Kershaw has given up just two runs this baseball betting season in 14 1/3 innings against the Padres. Kershaw has been the hard luck pitcher for the Dodgers this season and it has continued recently. In his last three starts his ERA is a sparkling 2.84 yet he is record is 0-2. He has really pitched well in his career against the Padres, going 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA. The Padres are set to send Kevin Correia on Tuesday. Correia has completely fallen apart recently. He is now 10-10 on the season with a 5.52 ERA. He has allowed a ridiculous 20 earned runs over his last three starts and walked nine. It would be hard to find a pitcher who has been worse than Correia lately. He is 0-3 in his last three starts with a 15.00 ERA. The only positive is that he is 5-3 in his career against the Dodgers with a 4.30 ERA.
