After going down 2-0, the Boston Red Sox have suddenly shown some signs of life in the wake of a 10-3 victory over the Houston Astros in the American League Division Series. With Game 4 set for Monday, the BoSox will look to stave off elimination in the best-of-five series.
Sportsbook opened the ’Stros as slight -114 road favorites with a total of 10.5.
Charlie Morton and Rick Porcello are the probable starters for the Astros and Red Sox, respectively. Morton (14-7, 3.62 ERA) won his final three starts of the season, allowing four earned runs and 13 hits over 18.1 innings of work. The veteran hurler is 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in two career starts against the Red Sox and went 4-1 with a 2.54 mark in September.
Porcello (11-17, 4.65) has won his last two decisions and went 7-3 in the final two months of the regular season, and he’ll be making his second appearance in the series after pitching one scoreless inning of relief in Game 1. The 28-year-old didn’t fare well at Fenway Park in 2017, going 7-11 with a 5.43 ERA at home this year.
If the Astros can pull off the win today, it’ll be their first division series win since 2005.
Houston hasn’t had any issues bouncing back after losses of late. In the Astros’ last five coming off a loss, they’re 5-0 SU.
