The Angles are on fire and are now in a position they are used to being at, which is in first place in the AL West.

L.A. Angels (32-28) at Oakland A’s (30-29)

Bovada has the Angels as the favorites in this game posted at -150 with the A’s at +140 with a run total of 8.5.

This season the A’s are 19-12 at home and the Angels are 16-15 on the road.

The Angles currently have the longest winning streak in baseball, as they have won six straight, are 9-1 in their last 10 games, and are in first place in the AL West with a slight ½ game lead over the Texas Rangers. The A’s are coming off a loss, are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and trail the Angels by 1.5 games in the division.

In Game 1 of this series yesterday the Angles beat the A’s 4-2.

The Angels have won seven straight in Oakland.

June has not been kind to the A’s who have lost five of their seven games in the month.

Jared Weaver (5-2 2.74 ERA) is on the hill for the Angels tonight and in his last outing he was stellar not giving up any earned runs in seven innings of work in a win. Taking the mound for the A’s is Vin Mazzaro (1-0 6.08 ERA), who gave up three earned runs in three innings in his last outing, but still got the win.

Weaver has been solid against A’s with an ERA of only 1.17 and he won his last start in Oakland last season. Mazzaro is replacing the injured Brett Anderson in the Oakland rotation and has not fared well against the Angles going 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA in two starts against them.

Even though Weaver has pitched well against Oakland he the Angles are 0-4 in his last four road starts against teams with a winning record. Oakland is 1-5 in Mazzaro’s last six home starts.

Oakland is still over .500 even though they have given up 16 more runs than they have scored.

The A’s have to get more timely hitting, as they only rank 23rd in the Majors in RBI’s.

L.A. is 8-3 in their last 11 games as a road favorite and Oakland is 7-3 in their last 10 home games against a right-handed starter.

In the last 10 games between these two teams the total has gone Under seven times.

In Game 3 of this four game series tomorrow Joe Saunders (4-6 4.78 ERA) is slated to take the mound for the Angels and Dallas Braden (4-5 3.77 ERA) is scheduled to start for the A’s.
