MLB Weekly Betting: Marlins vs. Cards

Florida sits second in their division but the Marlins are set to face the strong arm of Kyle Lohse of St. Louis, who will be a -165 home favorite at Sportsbook.ag when they begin a four-game set on Monday.

Lohse (4-1, 1.64 ERA) has dropped two of three head-to-head and this could make the Marlins a good wager as +145 road underdogs on the MLB betting lines. Chris Volstad (2-1, 5.32 ERA) opposes Lohse and has won two of his last three against St. Louis, including a complete-game win last season.

St. Louis could be the team to pick on the series betting lines, but the opener might be setting up as a good chance at a hefty payout for Marlins bettors. Five of the last seven matchups have made winners of UNDER bettors in totals betting.

Another interesting MLB betting series this week has the Angels and Red Sox beginning a four-game set on Monday at Fenway Park.

Boston swept the Angels earlier this season in a three-game set, and has won nine of the last 10 head-to-head. This result should certainly sway bettors in their favor for at least the series betting lines.

Sportsbook.ag has the opener in favor of the Angels at -120 over the hometown Red Sox. Clay Buchholz (1-3, 5.33 ERA) gets the ball for Boston against Jered Weaver (6-0, 0.99 ERA) of Los Angeles.

Arizona will be series underdogs on the betting lines when they match up with the high-flying Colorado Rockies, who lead the NL West division by a wide margin early in the season.

Jorge De La Rosa (4-0, 2.61 ERA) gets the nod for the Rockies on Tuesday, and Joe Saunders (0-3, 5.93 ERA) goes to the hill for the Diamondbacks. While Saunders has a good record head-to-head, it should be the Rockies who garner most of the attention from bettors in the opener and on the series betting lines.

The OVER bet has cashed out in three of the last four games between these teams in totals betting.

The Yankees face a tough test against Detroit in the third game of a four-game set on Wednesday when they are slated to face Tigers undefeated hurler Max Scherzer (4-0, 3.82 ERA), who also picked up a win against New York this season.

While the Yankees are favorites on the series betting lines, this game could provide underdog seekers with an opportunity to take the Tigers on the MLB betting lines.

On Friday the Atlanta Braves will try and take some of the wind out of the sails of the Philadelphia Phillies in MLB betting action. Atlanta, though, will have to contend with stud pitcher Cliff Lee (2-2, 4.18 ERA).

The Phillies took two of three from the Braves early in April and should once again be the popular choice as series favorites on the MLB betting lines. Three of the last four matchups have sent OVER bettors to the payout window in totals betting.
