It’s Sportsbook-take-all baseball tonight in Game 5 of the NLDS between the Mets and Dodgers from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The Mets send Game 1 Sportsbook Jacob deGrom to the mound with hopes of a repeat performance of the series opener. deGrom pitched one of the best games in Mets postseason history, registering 13 strikeouts and allowing no runs over seven innings.
Taking the hill for the Dodgers is Game 2’s Sportsbook, Zack Greinke. The Cy Young candidate allowed two runs in seven innings pitched while striking out eight in the home start. Greinke has pitched once in an elimination scenario when he defeated the Cardinals in Game 5 of the NLCS in 2013.
deGrom and Greinke combined for a 2.07 ERA this season which is the third lowest among qualifying starters who face-off in a decisive playoff game.
Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez had a rough night against deGrom in Game 1, striking out three times. He does, however, have two home runs vs deGrom in eight career at bats.
This is the 27th time in division series history that the series has gone to Game 5. The road team actually has the advantage, going 15-11 in those games. Tonight’s Sportsbook moves on to face the Cubs in the NLCS which starts Saturday.
