Sunday’s baseball events will be capped off by the back end of a doubleheader between the biggest rivals in the sport in a contest that could bring the Yankees within a game and a half of the AL East-leading Red Sox.
Masahiro Tanaka (7-8, 5.47 ERA) and David Price (4-2, 3.91 ERA) will handle the pitching duties for their respective clubs with the latter of the two going for a fifth straight quality start. Price seems to have finally settled in as a member of the Crimson Hose and his blow-up against the Yankees back in June is well behind him.
Having by far his worst season in the U.S.A., Tanaka is coming off a piss-poor start and his partially torn ulnar collateral ligament may finally be catching up with the Japanese international.
He has, however, pitched pretty well when matched up with the BoSox this year and he was much better in last season’s second half. Look for Tanaka to pick it up as he and the Bronx Bombers try to make a run at the division crown.
