Roger Clemens Odds on MLB Return

Roger Clemens has spent more time in courtrooms than on baseball diamonds lately, but his return to baseball has sparked plenty of speculation.

Clemens was announced today as the newest member of the Sugar Land Skeeters, an independent Atlantic League team in Texas.

He said he “wouldn’t even consider thinking that far ahead” to speculate on whether he might play in the major leagues.

But online sportsbook Bovada was happy to speculate, even posting odds on how many starts he will make and odds on whether he will play in the Majors in 2013. He would be Satchell Paige-like in age if he played next year, hence the -600 on the ‘no’ bet.

The 50-year-old expects to start Saturday at home against Bridgeport. He has so far committed to just that single game, and you can wager on the over-under of 1.5 games at Bovada.

Clemens, who was acquitted recently on charges of lying to Congress over alleged steroid use, last pitched for the New York Yankees in 2007. He was 45.

Ironically, that was the last time Roger Clemens odds were available, with predictions on whether he would serve time or be found guilty.
