Ross To Make Rangers Debut Friday

Tyson Ross will take a major league mound for the first time since Sportsbook Day 2016 when he makes his Texas Rangers debut Friday. Ross, who spent almost the entirety of last season on the DL following shoulder surgery, had four rehab starts in Triple-A Round Rock where he posted a 7.71 ERA with 11 strikeouts to 11 walks. The Rangers are hoping Ross can return to his pre-injury form when he takes on the Seattle Mariners in Arlington in his debut.

SHARK BITES
  • The total has gone UNDER in 13 of the Rangers' last 18 games when Sportsbook a series.
  • The Mariners are 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on the road against the Rangers.
  • The Rangers are 6-1 SU and ATS in their last 7 games as underdog.

Opposing Ross will be James Paxton, who has not been in peak form since his own stint on the DL. Paxton was easily the Mariners best pitcher before finding himself sidelined in the beginning of May but has since posted a 4.40 ERA in three starts and is coming off his shortest outing of the season. The lefty has been great on the road though allowing less than a hit per inning and no home runs in three starts away from Safeco.

The Rangers saw their five-game winning streak snapped in their last outing, but their defense has been stellar aside from that loss. Texas had held their opponents to three runs or fewer in every game during their streak. The Mariners have been wildly inconsistent as of late with the team going 3-5 in their past eight including an embarrassing 20-7 loss to Minnesota.
