Texas Rangers Have Been Blowing up Favorites This Year

The Angels swept the White Sox in the first series back from the break and will have to steal a couple of games from the AL East-leading Texas Rangers if they have any hope of climbing back in the division race. LA will send out Nick Tropeano (3-2, 3.12 ERA) in hopes of getting the series off to a winning start as he faces A.J. Griffin (3-1, 3.81 ERA).

SHARK BITES
  • The Rangers are 12-3 in their last 15 games as a moneyline underdog of 110 or less.
  • The Angels are 1-9 in their last 10 games against their division.
  • The Rangers are 6-2 in their last 8 games with Griffin as their starter.

Nick Tropeano has dropped both of his decisions since returning from the DL for a shoulder issue but earned a tough loss in his last outing. Tropeano has been by far and away the Angels' best starter and is the only one with an ERA under four. In his lone start against the Rangers this year, the Angels’ righty went 6.2 innings and allowed only four hits and no runs in a win.

Griffin hasn’t earned a win since April 26 and hasn’t gone deeper than six innings since May 2. He, like Tropeano, has also been battling a sore shoulder that may be contributing to his short outings. Griffin has pitched better on the road this year, posting a 3.45 ERA away from Arlington.

If you're playing daily fantasy, you may want to check out Mike Trout. The former MVP has taken Griffin deep twice in his 17 at-bats against him and will be a candidate to go Yahtzee again tonight.
