Maybe Don’t Expect A Lot Of Offense Between Nats, Mets

*Jacob deGrom's start has been pushed back due to neck stiffness. Matt Harvey will start on normal rest instead.

The NL East favorites square off for the first time this season, as the Washington Nationals and New York Mets kick off a three-game set Friday. Both teams have a plethora of pitching options, which has been evident to totals bettors. The UNDER has in the past nine games between the Nats and Mets with the two teams averaging a combined 5.3 runs per game in those outings.

Shark Bites
  • Bryce Harper is 7-for-18 with three extra-base hits in his career against Jacob deGrom.
  • The favored team is 4-0 SU in the last 4 games between the Nationals and Mets.
  • The Mets are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games.

Washington will send the steady Tanner Roark to the bump to start the series. Roark has posted a solid 3.50 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP through his first three starts and has not walked a batter in his last two. The righty has always enjoyed pitching at Citi Field with a 2.08 ERA in eight career appearances (five starts) in New York.

The Mets will counter with Jacob deGrom who has been dealing so far this young season. The right-hander has 1.89 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP in his first three starts and is coming off a 13 K performance against Philadelphia. In his first start at home this season, deGrom went 6.0 innings while surrendering just two hits and no runs.

The Mets will be likely be sending a depleted lineup to face off against Roark with Yoenis Cespedes, Lucas Duda, Travis d’Arnaud and Wilmer Flores all dealing with injuries. On the flip side, the Nats are hoping to get Jayson Werth, Daniel Murphy and Trea Turner back in the lineup Friday but will all likely be back sometime during the series.
