Don’t look now but the Oakland A’s have emerged as contenders, and some oddsmakers have taken notice.
The A’s, who last week were listed at 100/1 to win the World Series at , are now all the way down to 40/1.
Not every sportsbook, though, has been as proactive. TopBet still has the A’s listed at 200/1 and Interops has them at 100/1 as of Wednesday morning, according to OddsShark.com’s live futures odds.
Heading into Wednesday’s game at Toronto, the A’s have won six straight and they are 10-1 since the All-Star Break. Oakland is only five games out in the AL West and tied with the Angels atop the Amerian League Wild Card standings.
The A’s are up $973 on the moneyline since the All-Star Break and up $1,793 on the season. Only the Pittsburgh Pirates have been a more profitable bet this season (+$1,929).
