Monday Night Football betting preview

The road team is 4-0 and riding a 10-1 ATS mark on the road. The home team is struggling at 1-3, but 8-1 ATS in its past 9 games at home and is coming off a bye week. What a handicapping hodge podge!

New York Giants -7 at Cleveland Browns O/U 43 {URL=http://www.oddsshark.com/Stats/Matchup/Football/NFL/8080}Matchup Report {/URL}

This game is an important one for the Browns, as they are 1-3 and cannot afford to go 1-4 this early in the season. The Giants can really increase the gap between them and the other teams in the NFC East, as Washington and Dallas both lost yesterday. Last week the Browns had bye week and the Giants easily covered the 6.5 spread in beating the Seattle Seahawks 44-6.

This game may be a blowout, as the Giants have the 3rd ranked defense and top ranked offense while the Browns rank 15th on defense and 32nd (dead last) on offense. It does not help that the Browns will be without leading receiver TE Kellen Winslow, who is out for the game.

The top receiving threat for the Browns is Braylon Edwards, who only has 11 catches for the season. This game is big for Browns QB Derek Anderson, as if he plays poorly he may be benched.

This year the Giants are 3-1 ATS and the Browns are 2-2. The Giants are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games on the road and are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. In the Browns last 5 home games the total has gone Under. The Browns are 8-1 ATS in its last 9 home games.

My Pick: On paper this looks like this game will be a blowout, but the game is Monday night, the Browns are at home, and they are desperate for a win. The Browns have to establish their running game, which will not be easy against a tough front line of the Giants. If you like the Browns, bet the game at {URL=http://sports.bodoglife.com/welcome/2761707/sportsbook/}bodog {/URL}or {URL=http://www.oddsmaker.com/refer.php?ID=barscope}OddsMaker {/URL} where the Browns were +9 as of Monday morning.

The Browns are decent on D, but the Giants offense is firing on all cylinders. Look for the Browns to play better, but for the Giants to win and still cover the spread, continuing their run off domination on the highway.
