Monday Night Football odds preview

The Minnesota Vikings have what appears to be an easy victory lined up tonight when they face NFC North rivals Chicago on Monday Night Football.

The Vikings could use an easy win right now after dropping two of their last three games and the latest Vikings Bears odds on tonight’s matchup at Bovada is calling for a Vikings victory, with Minnesota down as a 7.5-point favorite.

Minnesota played one of their worst games of the season last week in a 26-7 loss to Carolina as an 8.5-point favorite. Brett Favre passed for 224 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, but his most memorable play came on the sidelines during a verbal altercation with head coach Brad Childress.

The coach wanted to pull Favre in the third quarter, when the Vikings were leading, but the grizzled veteran wouldn’t have it. Both parties say the argument is behind them, but we’ll see how things go the rest of the season.

The situation could also change if Favre’s recent decline continues. This is similar to the decline he went through late last season with the Jets.

Away from the Favre drama last week the rest of the Vikings didn’t perform very well either. Adrian Peterson rushed for only 35 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, while the usually steady defense allowed 397 yards.

Remember too that MInnesota has lost 7 of 8 visits to Soldier Field, including a dreadful 1-6-1 ATS mark. That included surrendering 109 rushing yards to Jonathan Stewart and three touchdown passes to Matt Moore.

The Bears have lost six of their last seven games, including a 31-7 loss to Baltimore last week as a 10.5-point underdog. After failing to beat the spread the Bears have dropped seven in a row ATS.

Versus the Ravens Jay Cutler awful first season in Chicago continued, as he passed for only 94 yards with three interceptions. The Bears were also unsuccessful on the ground, as Matt Forte rushed for only 69 yards on 20 carries.

Monday Night Football odds – Week 12 rematch

The Bears and Vikings met up in Minnesota back in Week 12 when the Vikings cruised to a 36-10 win as a 10.5-point chalk. Favre torched the Bears for 392 yards and three touchdowns and Adrian Peterson rushed for 85 yards and a TD on 25 carries. Percy Harvin had the best receiving game of his rookie campaign with six receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Cutler was held to only 147 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions against the Vikings. Forte has only eight carries for a lousy 27 yards.

Monday Night Football betting - History and trends

The Vikings have won their last two matchups with the Bears and four of their last five. Minnesota was 3-2 ATS in those five games.

In Chicago the Bears have had some recent success versus the Vikings, having won seven of their last eight games. Chicago was also 5-2-1 ATS in those eight contests.
