Coke Zero 400 Odds Preview

NASCAR betting heads back to Daytona International Speedway this weekend as the Sprint Cup Series starts their engines for the Coke Zero 400.

When NASCAR began the season at Daytona in February unknown Trevor Bayne delivered one of the biggest upsets in NASCAR history by winning the Daytona 500. Bayne hasn't finished better than 16th place in nine starts since then, so his chances or winning again at Daytona this weekend are pretty slim. That's why he's a 35/1 underdog at Bovada.

The favorite on the NASCAR odds this weekend may surprise you considering he hasn't won a Sprint Cup race in three years. We're talking about Dale Earnhardt Jr., who the Bovada oddsmakers have listed as an 8/1 favorite. Junior has come close to snapping his winless streak with eight Top 10 and three Top 5 finishes this season, and he's cracked the Top 5 in two of his last three starts at Daytona.

Last year at Daytona Kevin Harvick won the Coke Zero 400, and he follows Earnhardt Jr. on the Bovada odds list at 9/1. Harvick also won the Daytona 500 in 2007, and in his last five starts at Daytona he's recorded three Top 10 finishes and a pair of Top 5 finishes. Harvick also leads the Sprint Cup Series this season with three wins.

The active leader at Daytona is Jeff Gordon with six career wins. Gordon last visited Victory Lane at Daytona in 2005 when he won the Daytona 500. He's won the 400 at Daytona three times, with his last win coming in 2004. At Bovada this weekend Gordon is a 13/1 underdog, and he could have great value for bettors. Gordon already has a pair of wins this season and he finished in the Top 5 in three of his last four starts.

Other drivers from this weekend's field who have recorded multiple wins at Daytona in their career include Jamie McMurray (16/1) and Tony Stewart (12/1). McMurray has won twice at Daytona, and his last victory came in 2010 when he won the 500. Stewart is a three-time winner at Daytona, and all three wins have come in the 400. His last trip to Victory Lane at Daytona came in 2009.
