The Chase for the Sprint Cup is half over, but the NASCAR betting board still doesn't have a runaway championship favorite as the series heads to Talladega this weekend for the Good Sam Club 500.
Carl Edwards holds down first place in the Sprint Cup standings after five Chase races, but he leads Kevin Harvick by just five points and Matt Kenseth by only seven points on that list. Edwards is the 2/1 favorite at to win the Sprint Cup this season, with Harvick at 5/2 odds, and Kenseth at 4/1 odds.
Kyle Busch, 18 points back of leader Edwards in fourth place heading into Talladega, is at 5/1 on the NASCAR odds board to win the title at . Tony Stewart, 24 points behind in fifth place, has 9/1 odds to claim the Sprint Cup title.
Jimmie Johnson is now 35 points back of first place in the standings thanks to a 34th-place result at Charlotte over the weekend; but even though he's eighth in the driver standings the five-time defending champ is sixth on the odds board at 10/1 to win another title in 2011.
Brad Keselowski (-25) is at 16/1 on the odds chart, with Kurt Busch (-27) at 20/1, Jeff Gordon (-66) at 100/1, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-60) at 150/1. Ryan Newman (-61) sits back at 300/1 odds, with Denny Hamlin (-86) at 500/1 odds.
