NASCAR Betting: Good Sam Club 500

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is half over, but the NASCAR betting board still doesn't have a runaway championship favorite as the series heads to Talladega this weekend for the Good Sam Club 500.

Carl Edwards holds down first place in the Sprint Cup standings after five Chase races, but he leads Kevin Harvick by just five points and Matt Kenseth by only seven points on that list. Edwards is the 2/1 favorite at Bovada to win the Sprint Cup this season, with Harvick at 5/2 odds, and Kenseth at 4/1 odds.

Kyle Busch, 18 points back of leader Edwards in fourth place heading into Talladega, is at 5/1 on the NASCAR odds board to win the title at Bovada. Tony Stewart, 24 points behind in fifth place, has 9/1 odds to claim the Sprint Cup title.

Jimmie Johnson is now 35 points back of first place in the standings thanks to a 34th-place result at Charlotte over the weekend; but even though he's eighth in the driver standings the five-time defending champ is sixth on the odds board at 10/1 to win another title in 2011.

Brad Keselowski (-25) is at 16/1 on the Bovada odds chart, with Kurt Busch (-27) at 20/1, Jeff Gordon (-66) at 100/1, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-60) at 150/1. Ryan Newman (-61) sits back at 300/1 odds, with Denny Hamlin (-86) at 500/1 odds.

Odds to Win 2011 Sprint Cup Championship at Bovada as of October 17:

Carl Edwards 2/1
Kevin Harvick 5/2
Matt Kenseth 4/1
Kyle Busch 5/1
Tony Stewart 9/1
Jimmie Johnson 10/1
Brad Keselowski 16/1
Kurt Busch 20/1
Jeff Gordon 100/1
Dale Earnhardt Jr. 150/1
Ryan Newman 300/1
Denny Hamlin 500/1

Johnson took the checkered flag in the first Talladega race of the season, winning the Aaron's 499 back in April. Clint Bowyer is the defending champion at the October Talladega race, and Harvick visited Victory Lane in the Aaron's 499 last season.

The Good Sam Club 500 is the sixth of 10 Chase races, with the other four events to be held at Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix, and Homestead-Miami. Watch for complete race odds and other NASCAR wagers for this week at Bovada.
