NASCAR: Kobalt 400 Betting Odds

The Monster Energy Cup makes its annual stop at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this Sunday and Brad Keselowski will be looking to win the race for the third time in four tries.

Despite winning the race last year, Keselowski has given way to Kevin Harvick on the oddsboard at Bovada with the 2014 Sprint Cup winner coming into the race extremely motivated after a disappointing result at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 400 last week. Harvick wound up losing at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, despite leading for over half the race, because of a speeding violation coming out of a pit stop that put him at the back of the pack.

Harvick won this race two years ago and will be the +400 favorite this weekend to do so for the second time. Behind him and Keselowski we have Jimmie Johnson (+650), Kyle Busch (+700) and Joey Logano (+800) rounding out the top five. Johnson has won the race four times in his career (most in the history of the Kobalt 400), including three times in a row from 2005 to 2007, but hasn't finished higher than 13th place so far this year.

Matt Kenseth could be a good look as a value bet at +1000 as he's won the race three times in his career with his most recent checkered flag in Vegas coming in 2013. The No. 20 Toyota driver finished third in Atlanta last week so he'll be coming into the weekend as one of the hottest competitors in the field.

NASCAR brings its show to Sin City on Sunday for the Kobalt 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and last year’s winner is the favorite to win the race again this year.

Online sportsbook Bovada has Kevin Harvick at the top of the odds list at +425. Harvick won the race in 2:47:15 last year with an average speed of 143.677. The race has seen many repeat winners over the years, but not since Jimmie Johnson’s run between 2005 and 2007 when he won it three years in a row.

Given his past success in the race, it’s not shocking to see four-time winner Johnson (he also won in 2010) at second on the odds list at +525. Johnson had a disappointing 41st place finish in last year’s race. He did lead for 45 laps, but an accident derailed his day. Johnson is coming off a win in last weekend’s race in Atlanta.

Joey Logano (+600), Kyle Busch (+650) and Matt Kenseth (+700) round out the top five. Busch and Kenseth are former winners of the race — Busch winning in 2009 and Kenseth in 2003 and 2004. Busch will look to carry a strong start to the season over to the race, as he’s the current leader in the Sprint Cup standings.
