Sprint Cup Odds: AdvoCare 500
Coming off two victories in a row Jimmie Johnson is now a bigger favorite at the sportsbooks to walk away with the Sprint Cup Series championship with the circuit headed to Phoenix this weekend for its second-last race of the season.
Johnson took the checkered flag two weeks ago at Martinsville, and he followed that up with a visit to Victory Lane at the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Brad Keselowski, Johnson's closest competitor for the Sprint Cup, ended up second in the AAA Texas 500, which means Johnson's lead atop the driver standings is still just seven points after 34 races.
That has Johnson as the -300 favorite on the odds to win the Sprint Cup at TopBet, with Keselowski still in the running at +225 to win the title as the drivers of NASCAR prepare to race in the AdvoCare 500 in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.
Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kahne are the only other drivers within shouting distance of Johnson in the standings heading into the final two events of the year, with Bowyer (+20000) 36 points behind and Kahne (+50000) 58 points behind.
A third straight win for Johnson this weekend at Phoenix would go a long way toward locking down yet another Sprint Cup championship for him, and he's won on the track four times since 2007.
Keselowski and Bowyer have never picked up Cup wins at Phoenix International Raceway, while Kahne won the Kobalt Tools 500 on the track last November.
