Sprint Cup Pocono Betting Odds

The Sprint Cup Series drivers will try to tame the Tricky Triangle this weekend as NASCAR rolls into Pocono Raceway for the 5-Hour Energy 500.

In recent years a race at Pocono has usually meant one thing on the Sprint Cup circuit – a great showing from Denny Hamlin. Last year Hamlin won this race at Pocono and it was his fourth career victory on the track in only 10 starts. In those 10 starts Hamlin has recorded eight Top-10 finishes and seven Top-5 finishes. It should be no surprise then that Hamlin is the favorite in this weekend's race on the NASCAR odds at Bovada at 9/2. Hamlin is still looking for his first win of the season, but considering his history at Pocono, and the fact that he placed third last week in Kansas, he's a must-pick for bettors this weekend.

Following Hamlin on the NASCAR odds at Bovada is Jimmie Johnson at 6/1 and current points leader Carl Edwards at 7/1. Both drivers have visited Victory Lane at Pocono twice before.

Johnson swept both races at Pocono during the 2004 season. Since then Johnson has finished near the front of the pack numerous times at Pocono, with nine Top-10 finishes and three Top-5 finishes in his last 12 starts.

Edwards' last win at Pocono came in 2008, and he also claimed the checkered flag there in 2005. In his last five starts at Pocono he's cracked the Top 3 three times, and he has four Top-10 finishes in his last six starts.

Besides Hamlin, Johnson, and Edwards, other drivers in this weekend's field that have more than one win at Pocono include Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch.

Gordon has won four times at Pocono, with his last win coming in 2007. In his last nine starts at Pocono Gordon finished in the Top 10 seven times, but with only one win to his name so far this season he is a 14/1 underdog this weekend on the Bovada NASCAR odds.

Stewart last won at Pocono in 2009 and he has been a contender for the checkers in almost every start on the track for the last six years. In his last 11 starts at Pocono Stewart has 10 Top-10 finishes and six Top-5 finishes. He could be a smart pick this weekend at 10/1.
