STP 400 NASCAR Betting Preview

Kyle Busch will try to pay out for his supporters on the NASCAR betting odds for the third time in four weeks on Sunday afternoon as he hits the track for the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Busch won the Auto Club 400 in Fontana on March 24, and he also managed to race to the victory at the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway over the weekend. He's set at +700 odds at TopBet to take the checkered flag at the STP 400 on Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson, though, is listed as the +500 favorite at TopBet for this week's event, and he's the current leader in the Sprint Cup Series standings. Johnson is nine points ahead of Brad Keselowski and 18 points up on Busch in the standings.

Greg Biffle, who is 30 points behind Johnson in fourth place in the standings, is then at +600 odds, with each of Keselowski, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. at +800 odds. Earnhardt Jr. is in fifth place in the standings, 35 points back of Johnson.

Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne are then each at +1200 at TopBet on the odds to win the STP 400, with Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, and Martin Truex Jr. at +1500, Tony Stewart at +2000, and both Brian Vickers and Joey Logano at +2500.

Hamlin was the 2012 winner of the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway, with Kenseth winning the Hollywood Casino 400 on the track last October. Johnson and Keselowski visited Victory Lane in the two Kansas Speedway events on the Sprint Cup Series back in 2011.

Picking the winner on the NASCAR betting lines this season has been anything but easy with six different first-place finishers through the first seven races. The Sprint Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway for the STP 400 this Sunday with lots of excitement surrounding the driver parity this year.

This is the second running of this event thanks to the 2011 realignment in NASCAR that gave Kansas a second race on the Sprint Cup Series circuit. Jimmie Johnson is the choice at TopBet as an 11/2 favorite. Johnson has won his share of titles, and with four Top-10 finishes thus far he might make sense to many NASCAR followers with all of this season's uncertainty.

Tony Stewart is the only multiple race winner this season, and combined with his championship season a year ago he's at 6/1 just behind Johnson on the NASCAR betting lines. Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth have four Top-5 finishes each to go with one victory apiece, and they roll into this weekend’s race at 8/1 at TopBet.

Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards have been consistent with four Top-10 finishes apiece this season, and Harvick occupies fifth spot in the Sprint Cup Series standings. Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon are further down the standings, but all four drivers are at 10/1 odds on the STP 400 betting lines.

Brad Keselowski took the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway in 2011 and comes in at 12/1 odds, along with Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin. Hamlin and Keselowski could be sleepers with one victory and three finishes apiece inside the Top 10 this season. Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounds out the top tier of drivers for this weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway at 15/1.

Rounding out some of the longshots for the STP 400 are Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. at 30/1 odds, with Mark Martin at 35/1, and Ryan Newman at 40/1 at TopBet.
