NBA betting preview updates
Tonight in the Big D the red-hot Dallas Mavericks host the Houston Rockets with the Mavs favored by 5 points and tonight they will be looking for their sixth straight win.
Houston Rockets (14-11) at Dallas Mavericks (19-7)
This season the Mavs are 9-3 at home and 14-12 ATS and the Rockets are 8-7 on the road and 15-10 ATS.
Bovada has the Mavericks favored by 5 points in this game with a total of 195.
Both teams have played well recently, as the Mavs are on a five game winning streak and are 7-3 in their last 10 games and while Houston is coming off a loss they are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
The Mavs are in first place in the Southeast Division while the Rockets trail Dallas by 4.5 games.
Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki has been on fire during the Mavs recent streak (27.8 ppg) and he recently recorded his ninth double-double of the season. Rockets PF Luis Scola has to play solid D on the big German and not let him have a huge scoring game.
Both teams are pretty even in terms of scoring, but Dallas is the better defensive team ranking eighth in the league in points allowed (96.1 ppg) while Houston ranks 17th (99.6 ppg).
The Mavericks like to slash to the hoop with Nowitzki and Shawn Marion and if Houston can make these guys settle for outside jumpers, especially Marion, they will be in good shape.
PG Aaron Brooks (17.7 ppg) and SF Trevor Ariza (17.0) and PF Luis Scola (14.3 ppg) will have to play a good inside-outside game against a solid Mavs’ defense tonight.
Brooks will have his hands full tonight guarding the Dallas PG’s of Jason Kidd (8.4 ppg 9.1 assists per game) and super sixth man Jason Terry (16.7 ppg).
Tracy McGrady is back from micro-fracture surgery on his knee, but the scorer has only put up three points in limited minutes in two games back.
Saturday NBA odds
Portland Trailblazers at Orlando Magic
The Magic are in a first place tied with Atlanta in the Southeast Division while the Blazers are tied for second place with the Utah Jazz in the Northwest Division. The Magic are 7-3 in their last 10 games while the Blazers are 4-6 in their last 10, but they have won two in a row. Can the Blazers contain Dwight Howard now that Greg Oden is lost for the season?
Oklahoma City Thunder at Houston Rockets
The Thunder had a solid start to the season and looked like they would battle for a playoff spot, but they have lost 3 in a row, are now .500, and trail the Denver Nuggets in the Northwest Division by six games. The Rockets are 6-4 in their last 10 games and they recently got Tracy McGrady back from his micro-fracture surgery.
Sunday NBA Point Spread forecast
Cleveland Cavaliers at Dallas Mavericks
Both of these teams are en fuego since, as of Friday, the Cavs have won four straight and the Mavs have won five straight. LeBron vs. Dirk is always a great match up and each is playing stellar in their team’s winning streak.
New Orleans Hornets at Toronto Raptors
This is a match up of two of the most disappointing teams in the league so far this season, as the Hornets are tow games under .500 and the Raptors are six games under .500. The Hornets have only won two road games all season and the Raptors have lost two in a row and are only 4-6 in their last 10 games, as of Friday.
