That the San Antonio Spurs are in the Western Conference semifinals comes as no surprise. But the Los Angeles Clippers? Yes, that might qualify as a surprise.
The Spurs, the No. 1 seed in the West, now meet the fifth-seeded Clippers, who pulled off a Game 7 road victory Sunday in Memphis, in a best-of-seven conference semifinals series starting Tuesday night.

San Antonio, 50-16 during the regular season, rolled over Utah in four games in the first round of these playoffs to return to the conference semifinals after losing in the first round last year to Memphis.
Meanwhile the Clippers, who went 40-26 this season, endured a seven-game first-round series with the fourth-seeded Grizzlies, winning Games 1 and 7 on the road to return to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2006.
The Spurs took two of three games from the Clippers during the regular season, but one of those victories came in overtime. San Antonio won the first game at home, blowing open a close game into the third quarter, then won the second matchup by three points in OT.
Los Angeles then beat the Spurs at The Barn 120-112 in early March, although San Antonio G Tony Parker missed that game with a sore leg.
All three of those games played 'over' on the totals.
Game 2 of this series will be played in San Antonio Thursday night (9:30 pm Eastern, ESPN), with Games 3 and 4 at Staples Center back-to-back Saturday and Sunday.
