Dwight Howard Odds in Free Agency
Dwight Howard seemingly is always making headlines so the fact that there are Dwight Howard free agency odds is not surprising.
The fact that the Los Angeles Lakers remain the second betting choice on where the center will sign is a bit of a surprise.
Given all the hype around the Houston Rockets and their manoeuvring to clear cap space, it makes sense that the Rockets would be a +140 favorite (and they are at Bovada).
Houston boasts a long history of quality centers from Hakeem Olajuwon to Yao Ming. As well, Kevin McHale is the head coach – not a bad guy to teach Howard some low-post, back-to-the-hoop moves.
The Lakers are next at +180. However, with Kobe Bryant rehabbing a busted knee, and with geezers Steve Nash, Metta World Peace, and Pau Gasol on the roster, the Lakers are not a big threat to win in 2014.
Dallas, which needs a big man but may not have the bodies or cap room to pull it off, are a +300 shot at Bovada
And Atlanta, at +950, is the second-longest shot on this NBA betting board. Howard is from Atlanta but there isn’t much other reason – if he is chasing a title – to join the Hawks.
Golden State is considered a 10/1 longshot, despite the presence of young shooting stars like Stephen Curry. They have several expiring contracts they could trade to the Lakers.
What team will Dwight Howard play for in Game 1 of the 2013 regular season?
Houston Rockets +140
Los Angeles Lakers +180
Dallas Mavericks +300
Atlanta Hawks +950
Golden State Warriors +1000
